Devlog #8 - End Screen & Sound Effects πŸ”Š | GoedWare Game Jam 13

I started the day by creating the game's ending screen πŸŽ‰, which congratulates the player and includes a small reminder about Axe & Bow Land πŸΉβš”οΈ. Using the same system as the intro, the message is displayed in the signature phosphorescent font ✨.

However, when I finished, I realized something crucial: there were no sound effects 😱. Luckily, the ElevenLabs website offers free credits for generating AI-powered sounds. After tweaking the descriptions, I managed to get sounds for πŸš€ engines, πŸ’₯ ship explosions, πŸ›‘ laser barriers, πŸ”« laser projectiles, πŸ”„ meteor bounces, and πŸ“’ the beeping sound of the text appearing in the intro. That should be enough since there will also be music 🎢.

After lunch 🍽️, Pol showed me a new version of one of his compositions 🎼, with improved instruments and a much better arrangement in a section we both thought needed work. It sounds fantastic now! He's also motivated to compose at least one more track in the same style 🎡.

Once the sound effects were implemented (they only play if the object is on screen to avoid an unbearable mess of noises 🎧😡), it was time for a hidden Easter egg πŸ₯šπŸ‘€… but I won’t spoil it, because that would ruin the fun.

Then, I spent some time designing the itch.io page 🌐, adding a tiled background and the game’s title font, but without the gloom effect or scanlines 🎨.

Finally, although Game Maker Studio allows HTML5 export, I'm not used to working with it πŸ–₯️. The game has many issues in this format:
❌ Supersampling doesn't work, making the pixels look oversized.
❌ The game window is too small.
❌ Performance is unstable and sluggish.

Due to these problems, it's very likely that BREAKING THE LOOP will only be available for Windows πŸ–₯️.
